The source of this kind of wastewater includes landfill leachate, the unloading area, wastewater from washing vehicles, wastewater from the labs, early rains, wastewater from washing the road and domestic sewage from the employees in the plant, and it is mainly the landfill leachate. Landfill leachate is wastewater in the refuse storage pit naturally filtrated and gathered during the mixing and organizing process of the garbage storage warehouse.

Water Quality Characteristics
Landfill leachate is high-concentration organic wastewater with a small volume and complicated components. With the increase of the landfill time, COD, BOD5 and SS in the leachate will gradually decrease, while ammonia nitrogen increases with the increase of the landfill time. The production of landfill leachate fluctuates greatly with the change of seasons. Generally speaking, garbage in summer has higher moisture content, so the production of leachate is also high; while in winter, garbage has lower moisture content, and there is also less leachate generated in the storage pit.

Thought for Treatment
Treatment of landfill leachate generally adopts the combination of physicochemical treatment + biochemical treatment + membrane separation. Independent landfill leachate treatment system asks for high investment, complicated process, various devices and a high cost for operation.
Water quality of the effluent from the leachate treatment station should satisfy the concentration limits for pollutants in "Control Standard of Pollutants for Household Garbage Landfill" (GB16889-2008).
